Glassware

There are 2 kinds of glassware in general with stem or without it. They are called stemware and tumblers respectively.

Tumblers: Flat-bottomed drinking glasses. Originally they had a round bottom, therefore the name.
Stemware: Type of drinking glass that stands on stems above a base.
TUMBLERS GLASSWARE
1.      Highball or tall glass
·         Similar in shape to Collins glasses but smaller
·         use them to serve cocktails with ice cubes or crushed ice (except for Tequila based cocktails).
·         Intechangeable with Collins glasses or water, soda or beer glassware

2.      Collins glass
·         8 oz to14 oz volume.
·         use them to serve cocktails with ice cubes or crushed ice
·         Highball are usually interchangeable with Water, Highball, soda or beer glassware.

3.      Rock Glass or Low Ball
·         Short tumbler, around 2 inches tall
·         use them to serve neat drinks or drink with ice cubes.

4.      Water Glass
·         Elongated tumbler type of glassware, around 4 or 5 inches tall
·         if found in a situation where you find 3 similarly shaped glasses and need to choose which one is the water glass, choose the smallest of the three options, The taller glass is used for soda or beer, and the medium as a Collins or a highball glass.

5.      Beer Glassware (Pilsner, Pint, Pony, Beer Stein, Handle, and Jugs amongst others)
·         Short tumbler, around 2 inches tall
·         use them to serve neat drinks or drink with ice cubes.
·         They are used preferably for drinks such as Whiskey and  Old Fashioned

STEAMWARE GLASSWARE

1.      Martini Glass (Cocktail Glass)
·         Short tumbler, around 2 inches tall
·         You can use them to serve cocktails. Martini glasses are a huge factor in cocktail making for both form and function, but most cocktail drinkers just think they’re neat little “V” shaped tumblers.

2.      Wine Glass
·         Short tumbler, around 2 inches tall
·         You can use them to serve neat drinks or drink with ice cubes
·         Some restaurants use all-purpose wine glasses for both red and white wines.

3.      Water Glass
·         Short tumbler, around 2 inches tall
·         You can use them to serve neat drinks or drink with ice cubes
·         used to either create some sort of seal or increase the binding properties of various products.

4.      Snifter (Brandy Glass)
·         Short tumbler, around 2 inches tall
·         Most snifters will hold between 180–240 ml
·         used to serve aged brown spirits such as brandy and whisky.


5.      Champagne coupe or saucer
·         6 oz to10 oz volume
·         Short tumbler, around 2 inches tall
·         commonly used at wedding receptions, often stacked in layers to build a champagne tower.

6.      Champagne flute
·         6 oz to10 oz volume
·         Short tumbler, around 2 inches tall
·         Use for functions such as weddings, parties, festivals as well as in licenced bars, clubs and restaurants.

7.      Cordial
·         6 oz to10 oz volume
·         Short tumbler, around 2 inches tall
·         used to serve expensive after-dinner liqueurs.
·         used to serve drinks at a party, reception or other gathering. 

8.      Sherry glass
·         6 oz to10 oz volume
·         Short tumbler, around 2 inches tall
·         used for serving aromatic alcoholic beverages, such as sherry, port, aperitifs, and liqueurs, and layered shooters.
